 WHAT IS THE BEDICO CREEK  INDEPENDENCE ASSOCIATION?

Bedico Creek Independence Association Inc. is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization formed by a group of Bedico Creek homeowners who came together to advocate for the interests of residents and the future of our community.

The Association is homeowner-led and was initially organized and funded with personal contributions from the homeowners who started the effort. We have also retained legal counsel to provide guidance and representation as we work toward accomplishing our mission.

No. Bedico Creek Independence Association is an independent homeowner organization. It is not the current Bedico Creek POA and does not represent or act on behalf of the existing POA.

The Association was created to organize homeowners, provide information, advocate for residents' interests, and work toward ending developer control of the POA and establishing a true homeowners association governed by the homeowners of Bedico Creek.

The Association was formed because a group of homeowners believes that the residents who live in Bedico Creek, invest in their homes, and support this community should have a meaningful voice in how their community is governed.

Our mission is to protect the interests of Bedico Creek residents by working to end developer control of the POA and establish fair, transparent, and equitable community governance that serves the homeowners of Bedico Creek.

We believe an organized homeowner effort gives residents a stronger voice and provides a responsible way to pursue information, legal guidance, and appropriate avenues for change.

Our goal is to end developer control of the Bedico Creek POA and establish a true homeowners association governed by the homeowners of Bedico Creek.

We are working toward a community in which homeowners have meaningful representation in the decisions affecting their neighborhood and where governance, finances, records, and decision-making are handled with appropriate transparency and accountability.

Achieving that goal may require several steps. We intend to proceed in an organized and responsible manner with the benefit of professional legal guidance.

Issues involving homeowners' rights, POA governance, governing documents, Louisiana law, and potential legal action can be complicated. We believe these matters should be approached with proper professional legal guidance rather than speculation.

The Association retained an attorney to advise us regarding homeowners' legal rights, review relevant documents and information, help determine the appropriate avenues available to homeowners, and provide legal representation when necessary.

We encourage Bedico Creek homeowners who support the Association's mission to participate.

Homeowners can help by attending meetings, staying informed, asking questions, volunteering, sharing information with neighbors, supporting Association activities, and contributing financially if they choose.

Participation and financial contributions are voluntary.

The private Members area will provide approved members with access to information, documents, updates, and other resources intended specifically for participating Bedico Creek homeowners.

No. A financial contribution is not required to become a member or participate in the Association.

We appreciate contributions from homeowners who are able and willing to help with the expenses associated with this effort, but there are many other ways to participate—including attending meetings, volunteering, staying informed, and helping communicate with neighbors.

The Association was initially funded with personal contributions from the homeowners who organized the effort. As our work continues, additional financial support will help cover the expenses necessary to pursue our mission.

A significant portion of those expenses is expected to be attorney fees and other legal expenses associated with obtaining professional legal guidance and representation. Contributions may also be used for administrative and organizational costs, community outreach, printing, communications, meetings, and other expenses directly related to the Association's mission.

Financial transparency is important to us, and Association funds will be used to support the purposes and activities of the organization.

Generally, no. Bedico Creek Independence Association Inc. is organized as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization. Contributions to 501(c)(4) organizations are generally not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.
